    2 miles north of Stourbridge and south of central Dudley by approximately 2.5 miles, Brierley Hill is a West Midlands electoral ward and town of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in England. In Staffordshire was Brierley Hill. With the aim of creating a town centre for the borough, Brierley Hill since 2008, including the Shopping Centre of Merry Hill and Waterfront Business Park that is nearby, as the Dudley Borough's Strategic Town Centre has been designated. In the West Midlands in England, Brierley Hill is part of the Dudley Metropolitan Borough. Immediately east of Brierley Hill is Merry Hill Shopping Centre. Although none of the members were from Brierley Hill, on Bank Street in the town centre, Brierley Hill Civic Hall hosted several of Slade's first gigs during the early 1970s.

In accordance with the Dudley borough and the majority of schools in other areas, Brierley Hill runs a system of 5-7 infant, 7-11 junior and 11-16 secondary schools. In Brierley Hill, West Midlands, England, a primary school is Thorns Primary School. Meaning the Briar Rose's growing place; 'leah', meaning a clearing of woodland; and 'hill', the name Brierley Hill derives from Old English words 'brer'. A product of the Industrial Revolution, with the first written records of the town dating back to the 17th century, Brierley Hill has a recent history.

    By the beginning of the 19th century, Brierley Hill had become industrialized with quarries, collieries, glass works, and iron works emerging. With the closure of Round Oak Steelworks in December 1982 resulting in a further 1,300 redundancies, the decline in manufacturing resulted in an unemployment rate of 25% in Brierley Hill by the early 1980s. Brierley Hill had been an urban sanitary authority, it, part of Staffordshire, became an urban district in 1894 under the Local Government Act. On the corner of Bank Street, next to the Civic Hall, West Midlands Police have their main Dudley station in Brierley Hill. St. Michael's Chapel, which was constructed in 1765 by public subscription, was the religious building in Brierley Hill. Recipient of the Victoria Cross for service during Zulu War, Anthony Clarke Booth VC (1846 - 1899) died in Brierley Hill.
